1) Something I’m listening to...
Jim Rohn.Jim has been a mentor of mine for about 30 years. That means he is old school. One of the greatest mindset coaches ever to exist. The way he speaks, what he speaks about and his incredible one-liners make him my No.1 speaker ever. Like ever!
If you have a challenge with American accents, get over it. Seek out the recordings of this guy's speeches where you can. Sadly, Jim passed away some years ago, but his legacy lives on in millions due to his work. I probably listen to Jim once a month, and every time I lift my state. Do yourself a favour...
2) A new old favourite place for morning reflection and planning for the day...
Sober Mule. Since moving to Mornington, I’ve started having early morning coffee here. I find it useful to get out of my home, office, and practice and sit in a quiet space (with movement around me) and plan my day. My coffee takes about 15 min which is the perfect amount of time to set my intentions for the day, review and respond to any urgent communication before I start with clients. (I go offline from 8 -11 every morning). It's like 11 a huddle (not cuddle, huddle) with yourself. Yep, sometimes I even give myself a pep talk. Where do you do your morning prep (huddle) for the day?
3) An event we held…
1140 Community Event. No not Facebook community, real community. Like real bodies, talking face to face. I was surprised at how many business owners in our local community didn't know their neighbours. So I organized a good old fashioned street BBQ (gourmet wagyu beef sliders and American hot dogs), threw in free drinks and walah! We had over 70% of the businesses and 50 people attend. It was great to get to know everybody and have everybody get to know each other. Already this week I’ve been able to wave to passing cars and put a name to the face. I wonder if we could all do better after this in our business community and our home community, reaching out to know our neighbours.
Ps. My favorite quote this week is : “People are not disturbed by things, but by the view, they take of them.” - Epictetus
I would love your feedback on what had an impact on you and the lesson in it, moral of the story, or learning you would share.
Have a ripper finish to your week.
